In the morning of 13th May, at the Long Thanh Bridge, Ministry of Transportation, Labour Union of Viet Nam Transportation and Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) held a ceremony to launch the emulation sprint construction Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay highway project with the objective to put into operation the section from HCMC to Long Thanh at the end of 2013 and the entire route at the end of 2014.
At the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Transportation Nguyen Ngoc Dong said: The completion and put into operation of this project is an urgent task, should be completed early to help reduce congestion, ensure traffic safety and meet the requirements of social-economic development in the region.
The Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay highway has length of about 55km, as a part of North – South highway system, passing through the territory of Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai Province, the total investment is about VND 20.630 billion, started construction in October 2009.
Once the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay highway is completed and opened to traffic for the entire route, Phuoc An Port with its main objective to serve for major industrial zones in Dong Nai province, along with the ability to connect directly with the HCMC – Long Thanh – Dau Giay highway, distance from the Phuoc An Port to other industrial zones in Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong province is significantly shortened (less than 40 km), ensuring for smooth and convenient transportation from Phuoc An Port to other area in the region.
